The Power of Print 1
In this digital day and age we are the most photographed generation but in the future, we will be the least remembered. This is due to the fact that very few people ever print their photos. We are not leaving anything for our future family to know we existed. Technology is changing every day and at this point, DVD's are pretty much antiques. I don’t think you can buy a computer with a DVD drive anymore. The USB format is in the process of changing right now. Just think if in the 80’s people only had their images on floppy disk what would they do with them today? So, for all you young ones a floppy disk is the old version of a DVD. You may be saying well I use social media to archive my images. Well, what will you do if Facebook or Instagram ever shut down? It’s just rented space; or let's say your account gets hacked and blocked or even worse the hacker deletes all your photos. You can still see the first photograph ever taken because it was printed in 1826. I live in Suffolk County Long Island and in my area, you can simply go to any CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, and print right from your phone. I personally print my personal photos at Costco at .16¢ a print; you can’t go wrong.
Yes, I am a photographer and this comes naturally to me. What I’ve have done in my photography studio in order to better serve my clients and to help them preserve their memories in a more updated way is offering printed products that stand out from your natural framed prints. In the months to follow I will be sharing one of my many modern takes on printed products that I offer. The first one is one of my personal favourites. It is wood prints. Your image is printed directly onto a slab of birch wood. The image almost looks likes a painting. I love how you can see the wood grain through the image. With standard prints, you need to matt and frame them and the cost can get high for framing. These wood prints are routed in the back for screws and come ready to hang. No extra cost of framing is needed. Size start at 5x7 and go up to 40x60. If you would like you can always stop in my studio at 58 Waverley Ave Patchogue NY 11772 to see then up close and feel them.
