Forms of Communication
I was interviewed last week from my website designed and hosting company Photo Biz. They put up a poll on how do you like to form a relationship with your wedding and portrait clients. Spoiler alert but I had answered that I prefer face to face or phone calls over social media and text messages. I'm not sure if it's my age, that I'm a New Yorker or that I'm an extrovert. But I just feel messages for the first time of contact are very un personal. If you're going to buy a car do you message the dealer? No, you either walk-in or call to make an appointment. What service or retail business do you not call first? So why should photography be any different? In fact, the one comment I get a lot from people who call me is " Wow you answered the phone". Well yes, it rang and I run a photography studio. I wish I kept count of how many sessions I booked because I answer the phone or returned a voice mail with a call. If you're wondering if I answer messages at all of course I do. I will however try and drive the lead to a call then an in-person meeting. To see the article check out the link below.
